I've tried the "ide=nodma" option, but that made everything (X, the burning process and the verification proces) slooooowwww.... And again, when doing a md5sum check on /dev/hdc, it revealed a faulty checksum. And what I don't get, is that it won't work. The devices are installed properly. All as master on their own IDE channel: hd (primary), dvdrom (secondary) and dvd burner (pci ide controlercard). Everything connected with a 40 pin, 80 wire IDE cable (blue, grey and black connector). The firmware of the burner upgraded with the latest version. Using Philips DVD+RW 1-4x rewritable dvd... And still it doesn't work... I don't get it. --- On Thu 12/09, David L Norris < dave a webaugur.com > wrote: From: David L Norris Date: Thu, 09 Dec 2004 10:46:04 -0500 Subject: Re: Advise on connecting a Plextor PX-712A ???? Have you tried booting with the "ide=nodma" kernel option? If I boot my machine with DMA enabled I can't read past precisely 201906176 bytes on media in either of my DVD drives. (Incidentally, this seems to be the point where the drive switches to high speed.) I can write DVD/CD media without any error. When I disable DMA the media that I had previously written checks out fine. -- David Norris http://www.webaugur.com/dave/ ICQ - 412039 _______________________________________________ No banners.
