Did you install the tarball or the rpm file?

I just tried it on my system and it installed and started without error.

I installed
[root@tyderium thom]# rpm -qa | grep firehol
firehol-1.214-rh7up

[root@tyderium thom]# service firehol start
FireHOL: Saving your old firewall to a temporary file: [ OK ]
FireHOL: Processing file /etc/firehol/firehol.conf: [ OK ]
FireHOL: Activating new firewall (41 rules): [ OK ]

I didn't edit the config files at all.

Maybe try installing the rpm?

Ate Logo (I think I spelled that right)
