This is usually delays in reading/writing data from a drive. On one of my PCs I saw this condition when a drive was beginning to fail and it made major delays in IO. This has been known to cause delays as the system tries to resolve addresses as IPv6 on a network that only supports IPv4. The archives make mention of this at times. This can easily cause major delays in starting X and applications that run in X. I saw a significant improvement in my system when I disabled IPv6. > Dec 9 11:35:15 localhost sshd: succeeded > Dec 9 11:35:15 localhost xinetd: xinetd startup succeeded > Dec 9 11:35:16 localhost gpm[2455]: *** info [startup.c(95)]: > Dec 9 11:35:16 localhost gpm[2455]: Started gpm successfully.
