I do not have that problem, but then my imap server is on my LAN.

I've never used Lookout, so I don't know about similarities.

My most-used feature in E has been the summary page. Without that, I really 
have little use for it. to my mind it has too many usability disabilities. 
For starters, it often has the cursor in the wrong place so that instead of 
']" advancing to the next unread, it gets typed into some window. It also 
isn't good at hiding read mail; every time I change folder it forgets. 
Viewing source occasionaly is a pain.


For _this_ list I'm using kmail which was formerly my primary email client. 
It's okay but apparently won't sort imap. Or maybe that's just the version on 
nahant; I do have it junking mail from one individual.

kmail does have spell checking though.

Mostly, I use tbird which does not check spelling but does hide read mail 
fairly well and has good ideas about threading.
