Not a solution, but that happens to me as well in a legacy Dell
workstation (P-III 450MHz).
maybe is it connected to the apm, acpi stuff' that on this machine
shouldn't work sas it is quite old.....now I can't check as I am in the
office, and the computer is my home's computer.
