any issues with trying to use gcc4 instead of gcc?

since i don't have enough emotional scarring in my life, i was
thinking of just trying out the gcc4 that came with FC3. is it just a
case of invoking "gcc4" instead of "gcc", and the same underlying libs
are used?

i checked dependencies, and i notice that gcc4 has *two*
dependencies for binutils (i'm assuming a simple oversight there),
which doesn't seem to be a big deal. what does seem a bigger deal is
that gcc4 doesn't have a dependency on cpp, which i'm guessing is also
an oversight. or is the preprocessor now bundled in? time to do some
reading, i guess.
