There was a change with kernel > 2.6.8 which made it impossible to burn as non-root user. I recall from another list there's conflict between cdrecord (and its author) and the kernel. For dvd try growisofs. I could well misremember, but my burners are on Debian boxes and I may well have been running a 2.4 kernel anyway (2.6.8 is installed tho). -- Cheers John
