Linux has a long way to go to make it to the mainstream desktop but it's also come quit a long way over the years. Does anyone in their right mind seriously use Motif (or even any of the NEXT knockoffs for that matter). They really make Microsoft look good....

 Therefore my complaint is misplaced.

I was "away" from Linux for 3 years , came back and decided on Fedora Core 3 because a) it had the latest and greatest versions of my fave Desktops (KDE & Gnome) and no one else did and the large user base meant I'd find more help from folks like yourself.

I've been overall very pleased with it. I tried SuSE 9.1 last month and while it's more "polished" in appearance (their old GNOME 2.4 excluded) it's far less stable than any of the FC3 Tests were.
