By executing the service's init script with stop parameter.

So "service nfslock stop" will close the port. If you don't need NFS you
can switch off several services. To prevent they are restarted after a
reboot use the "chkconfig" tool to administer the runlevel starts and
stops.

> EN      2711/mDNSResponder

You see it is only listening on localhost. mDNSResponder is a daemon
serving multicast DNS service discovery ("Rendezvous") requests.
