Like you and the others, I'm suspicious.
Boot a rescue CD.
Fully mount (readonly) your system under, say, /mnt/sysmount
find /mnt -type f -print0 | xargs -0 grep -l BOOBY

I've done that (but from the running system) on two nahant boxes and one FC3 
and get no hits except the log (I used sudo).

I urge a CD in your case because I don't trust your system.

The INIT line probably reflects an update to /etc/inittab being effected. I 
don't think it's harmless.
