I have a system with the SoundMax AC97, and by default it comes up with this surround sound mode, that has the ports come up in the strange configuration. Front speakers are the MIC port. In windows, I use the drivers to set the card to use the standard ports, but linux has it go to the default. Only solutions I've been able to get is to move the speaker to MIC when using Linux on the box. Sound seems to be fine, but it is a pain. Never got anything really from ASUS (board) or SoundMax. > > Thank you... +----------------------------------------------------------+ Michael D.
