I am a newbie and would like more > complete explanations at times. Bill, prelink is in /use/sbin so it will not be on the PATH for a normal user. You did just "su", which will allow you to be root, but does not take root's environment or path. Better to do "su -" or "su -l" instead, which will take root's environment and PATH.
