Today while trying to get mails from my mail server I keep getting socket errors. This causes fetchmail to refetch mail from the server over and over again with the same mails. This is despite my adding expunge 10 to my .fetchmailrc file. I use syphlheed as my mail reader. Luckily it has an option to delete duplicate mails. It has two accounts. The default account is set up to read mail from /var/sppol/mail. I have another account that will directly fetch mail from mail.comcast.net. If I use this account I do not go through the sendmail, procmail which filters out spam and viruses but it will get through the area where the dupilcate mails occur. I prefer to use that account so that reads the mail from sendmail to take advantage of the smam and virus checking. Why does using sendmail seem to hang up on the duplicate mails but reading directly from mail.comcast.net seems to get through the duplicate mail problems?. It seems strange to me. -- Richard E Miles Federal Way WA. registered linux user 46097
