You wish.

Distros disagree on package selections, UID ranges, menu contents....

I tried sharing /home between Mandrake and RHL a few years go and that wasn't
a great sauccess/

Sharing between two releases of RHL didn't work so well either (I was
using /home on NFS at the time).

I've also tried moving ~ and siscovered that doesn't work well either.

I 'd recommend backing up to DVD or USB drive or something. a 40 Gb laptop
drive in a USB2 enclosure fits in my pocket. So would 80 or 100, but 40's
what I have.
