You really should not "mix and match" IMHO, IE installing from source on an 
RPM based system, check out this site and you can use APT. All the info is 
there for you: 

http://kde-redhat.sourceforge.net/

You wont be disappointed, Rex always keeps it bang up to date with fixes etc..
