If not Fedora should find the net if set to DHCP if you have your router set up correctly. On my static IP lines the "modem" was set to bridging mode to just pass everything through to the router. On the "modem" there is nothing to repair, something in a board failed so toss it. It's all made in China so what can you say. I pay less than 2 bucks a month to Comcast Cable for mine at home.
