What boot floppy are you using?  If you want a linux on a floppy to
use for stuff like partitioning, I recommend using Tom's RTBT
http://www.toms.net/rb/  It doesn't do a whole lot, but works great
for stuff like partitioning.  I use the linux "fdisk" program
(included in Tom's RTBT).  If you want a little more, you might try a
small CD distro, like System Rescue CD
http://www.sysresccd.org/index.en.php  It has parted, if you like that
better, as well as QtParted (graphical and can resize NTFS).
