xray, Since you're new to Linux, I believe the simplest way to get the centrino working would be to start the graphical interface. From the main menu, go to System Configuration->Internet Configuration Wizard and select Wireless. You should see the Centrino listed there. Once you see it, just configure it as you need. I'm pretyt sure that will modify your /etc/modprobe.conf to autoload the driver at boot time.
