The explicit "relay:" mailer statement shouldn't be necessary. Try
without it. The squared bracket reason and behaviour was explained by
Paul. They should be used always if you have a specific target host and
don't want to have lookups. ISPs often have a different / specific mail
host for their customers to be used as their relay which is not the MX
for the ISP's domain.
