-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 hi, I've been trying to upgrade from FC2 on my main workstation a Celeron 2.4Ghz with 512 Mb and 1 IDE 80 Gig drive. But no luck, it looks for FC installations and finds nothing !? On it's older 'brother' a dual PIII with 512+ Mb a 40 Gig IDE, a 20 Gig IDE and 1 4 Gig SCSI drive, a SCSI CD reader and writer and finally a IDE CD writer it detects FC2 just fine and offers an upgrade. Just thought lets mention all that hardware to point out lots of hardware doesn't seem to be the problem ;) Here's the layout on the Celeron: hda: /dev/hda1 1 786 6313513+ 83 Linux /dev/hda2 787 6180 43327305 f W95 Ext'd (LBA) /dev/hda3 * 6181 7455 10241437+ 7 HPFS/NTFS /dev/hda4 7456 9733 18298035 c W95 FAT32 (LBA) /dev/hda5 787 3336 20482812 83 Linux /dev/hda6 3337 3973 5116671 83 Linux /dev/hda7 3974 4104 1052226 82 Linux wisselgeheugen /dev/hda8 4105 6180 16675438+ 7 HPFS/NTFS Now I do use hda7 as a crypto device on the fly. However I did try to use it as a normal swap device to see if that was the problem, guess not. I did update yum/apt/up2dat to FC3, could that be the problem? Furthermore I my Linux root device is not the boot device, but I guess Windows XP won't be able to boot if I change that. And I really need that to succesfully burn cd's I'm afraight :/ Just in case I have to wait for all my yum channels to update to FC3, at the moment I'm only waiting for fedora.us: Does anybody know how to write cd's with FC2: with kernel 2.6.8 k3b/cdrecord doesn't write at all due to Linus's patch and 2.6.7 writing is really really unreliable. And speaking of cdwriting how is this with FC3?
