That is the problem and I have already posted a bug in bugs.gentoo.org
asking for support for the inode_resize feature introduced in
Fedora Core 3. Meanwhile I have taken the e2fsprogs-resize.patch from
ftp://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/development/SRPMS/e2fsprogs-1.35-11.2.src.rpm
and applied it to my copy of the sys-fs/e2fsprogs ebuild
in Gentoo. It seems to be working fine.
