I'm not sure the answer is that simple. I too had all of my FC3 CDs fail when I burned them from my dual boot WinXP/FC2 machine (burned from WinXP using Nero & Roxio). They failed in MediaCheck and when I went ahead and tried to use them they failed while loading. But since they passed MD5 I moved them over to my wife's WinXP box and burned the first disk. It passed MediaCheck and so I burned the lot. Installation went wonderfuly with this set. So if there is an IDE problem, it is Motherboard or CD burner specific.
