Marc Sorry to hear about your loss. I just sent a email posting before this one but don't pay attention to it since it is also a test copy of FC3 I will continue to try mirror sites and see what happens. I just got back from attending a funeral service this evening. The version of the kernel that you are using was indeed part of the FC 3 test releases, though not part of the final release, which moved to 2.6.9-1.667. I did not realize that you were using a test release. I would certainly urge you to download the final release of FC3, as there are a lot of fixes incorporated in the final version. Of course, there have already been fixes released even to the final version. In terms of a location to download them, you should consider using one of the Fedora mirrors. These are listed at: http://fedora.redhat.com/download/mirrors.html Pick one of the mirrors that is geographically close to you and download the ISO images, which will be located in a subdirectory something along the lines of .../fedora/core/3/i386/iso. You may just need to try several mirrors until you get one that responds reasonably quickly. It is not uncommon for the servers to be busy for at least a week or so after the initial release as everyone is in a rush to get the new release. If you click on one and it takes a while to respond, move on to the next one down the line. Don't wait. If it is slow to respond initially, it will be even slower to download. There will be 4 CD sized ISO images (1 - 4) or one DVD ISO image for burning using a DVD writer. Be sure to also download the MD5SUM file so that you can verify the integrity of the files before you burn them. I hope that helps. Once you get the final version of FC 3 installed, you can then use the procedure that I initially posted with the file that I indicated, which is designed for the 2.6.9 series kernels. Best regards, Marc
