Not sure about knoqueror but in nautilus there is a preferences option that you can select to show files that start with . as well as backup files ending with ~. Go to edit---> preferences and select the icon & list views category. There is a panel for show options that you can select to show hidden and backup files. Renaming . (dot) files to look at them in a file manager is a good way to really bork your system. Don't do that. -- Scot L.
