I have an old laptop P100 with 16mb ram which I have managed to run x on using dam small linux and feather linux v.slow but might just work for you. Other than that I have recently setup a system using thintux which boots from a floppy and uses pxe to boot linux as a thin client. This will more than likely work for you and afaict it what ltsp does. Hope you manage to get something going, email me off list if I may be able to help you with a small hardware contribuition. Pybe
