FC2 on a Dell Dimension PII system, has a CS 4611 sound card on-board. Running system-config-soundcard correctly identifies the card, but trying to play the test sound gets: amixer: Mixer attach default error: No such device amixer: Mixer attach default error: No such device sox: Can't open output file '/dev/dsp': No such device -9 Following is /etc/modprobe.conf: alias eth0 3c59x alias usb-controller uhci-hcd alias snd-card-0 snd-cs46xx install snd-cs46xx /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install snd-cs46xx && /usr/sbin/alsactl restore >/dev/null 2>&1 || : remove snd-cs46xx { /usr/sbin/alsactl store >/dev/null 2>&1 || : ; }; /sbin/modprobe -r --ignore-remove snd-cs46xx Running modprobe snd-cs46xx by hand doesn't return any errors, but sound still doesn't work. I know the hardware is OK, because it works fine in Windows. Just starting with Fedora, so any help is appreciated. Mike VanHorn mr_vanhorn@xxxxxxxxx __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
