Could you post your smb.conf? It seems that your nmbd service is not running. If it is, it may net be configured properly. Try `service smb status to check (fedora has both smbd and nmbd in the smb service)

Sound like port blocking by a firewalling. Keep care on the Fedora
machine the SMB/NMB ports are open (system-config-security).


Replace the server name with IP address, I mount the share folder
successfully. The NT share server and my PC are in the same LAN.

But I still don't know why does the name not work in Linux. There is no
problem in NT OS.



I don't know the details of Samba, but basically you are not resolving
the NetBios names. You need to configure the Samba client for this.
