For several days, I have been unable to connect from Linux machine (FC2) to Windows machine (98SE) or vice versa. Testparm tells me my smb.conf file is ok. Smbclient -L machinename yields NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE This is my smb.conf file: # Samba config file created using SWAT # from 127.0.0.1 (127.0.0.1) # Date: 2004/10/16 16:05:37 # Global parameters [global] workgroup = LGI server string = Samba Server password server = None username map = /etc/samba/smbusers log file = /var/log/samba/%m.log max log size = 50 socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192 printcap name = /etc/printcap idmap uid = 16777216-33554431 idmap gid = 16777216-33554431 valid users = 192.168.1.1 guest ok = Yes hosts allow = 192.168.1.100, 192.168.1.101, 192.168.1.102, 192.168.1.103, 192.168.1.104, 192.168.1.105 [printers] comment = All Printers path = /var/spool/samba printable = Yes browseable = No [/home/heschel/] path = /home/heschel read only = No guest ok = No valid users = heschel Googling including the Fedora archives proved useless. -mail and Internet access works so it does not seem to be a hardware problem.
