acrobat 6 for Linux?

I recently received a couple of pdf files which I have been unable to
view using the acrobat version 5 that I have installed on FC2. I
suspect the pdf file was created using version 6 which is some how
incompatible with version 5 readers.

Running the file command on them shows them as version 1.4 PDF
documents. When I run acroread against these pdf files I get the
following error message:

There was an error processing a page. Too few operands.

and this error message:

An unrecognized token '' was found.

Since it had been awhile since I had installed acrobat I checked their
web site again but they only appear to offer version 5 for Linux
systems.

Note that I also had similar problems reading these pdf files on a
Windows 2000 box. I need to upgrade the version of acrobat on that box
to confirm that the newer version can read them correctly. However I
have received confirmation from another user with acrobat 6 that they
had no problem reading the files.

So my questions for everyone are, is there a newer version of acrobat
available for linux than version 5?

And is there a version of pdf files that can not be read with version 5
acrobat?
