I have a corrupt file on my filesystem that belongs to kdebase. What would

rpm -e --nodeps --justdb kdebase
rpm -i --nodeps -f kdebase

Check out rpm2cpio. You can use it to get a single file if that is what
you are after.

So does "Midnight Commander" if you'd like an ncurses gui to browse the rpm contents.
