I was trying to sync my Palm V with Evolution 2.0.1 (evolution-data-server 1.0.1). I was not successful. After a long time (~15 minutes?), the HotSync app aborted because it lost the connection. (JPilot 0.99.7 works just fine, and completes within ~2 minutes) There do not seem to be any "out of memory" bugs in Bugzilla for Evolution, although there is one "out of memory" bug (#131251) filed against kernel-2.6.8-1.521.
