I removed all devices including my raid card leaving just the dvd rom and still the same thing. I changed the dvd rom for a cdom and the same again. Trustix linux works and so does debian but I have always been a fan of redhat so I am trying to stick with it.

OK. It's definitely not the CDRom thing then. In searching out the CDRom thing, I did note at least one Bugzilla report about ACPI failure during installation. You might try to find that then.
