Thanks for those who helped me before and kept my spirit above water level. BTW - it's not so bad to be under the water for a while. I am used to it - I used windows for years.
I try now to migrate applications from the XP - next one is the
Photoshop - I need to do simple modification to images - any
recommendation for a good alternative?

GIMP is what you're after. gthumb is a nice quick tool for going through bunch of vacation pics and rotating them for a slide show too.

The new version of GIMP that is on FC2 is quite nice.
