What about the 2nd issue now? Can I autologin when boot to a selected
non-root account?
Assuming you're running gdm (the Gnome graphical login program), you'll find instructions at: http://www.jirka.org/gdm-documentation/x241.html
Look at the AutomaticLoginEnable and AutomaticLogin keywords in the gdm.conf file.
