Though I am not mkisofs expert, I would suggest looking for Joliet and RockRidge extensions. I am sure Joliet is the answer for long file names.

Subject: mkisofs problem (help!!)

Hi there,

I have to maintain a samba server serving windows
clients. Before I took over the server there have been
300,000 files using extensively German special
characters, space within file names and very long file
names.

They crate a DVD backup of 3.8 GB at least twice a
months that gives a PC w/Windows and Nero a maximum
load for about three hours. mkisofs creates an iso
image in just 20 minutes.

Somehow I can't get all three things together: German
special characters, space within file names and very
long file names.

The best I can do is using iso level 3 that allows
special characters and space - but I don't get the
long file names correct.

Any hints?

Thanks in advance.
