Hi all,

I have downloaded the FC3 DVD iso, and it MD5 checksums OK, and if i
connect the iso to a Virtual machine the install works fine.

However, when I try to burn it using k3b, i get something like "4199MB
of 4102MB burned, 100% complete", and then when i boot from it, it
chokes. Looks like the image is not being burned properly.

I haven't had any problems previously burning CDs or DVDs. BTW, i have
that 2.6.8 k3b must be run as root going on. Could this be the problem?
Has anyone else had this experience?

Thanks in advance,
Joshua Wulf

Well, I had the 2.6.8 K3B problem, but I don't think it could be causing your issue. My understanding of the bug was that it prevented a user from using the burner because of a fault in permission settings, or something like that. For some people, burning as root couldn't be done either. I know my Plextor CD-RW wasn't detetced as a burner even under root. It wouldn't hurt to try burning under a 2.6.7 kernel just in case though.

You might just have a bad CD media, or it could be scratched or something. Unless your burner has just crapped out on you, which is not likely, it should work. Try a different mirror for downloading the file and then check it with the md5sum before you burn another one.
