Well, I had the 2.6.8 K3B problem, but I don't think it could be causing your issue. My understanding of the bug was that it prevented a user from using the burner because of a fault in permission settings, or something like that. For some people, burning as root couldn't be done either. I know my Plextor CD-RW wasn't detetced as a burner even under root. It wouldn't hurt to try burning under a 2.6.7 kernel just in case though.Hi all,
I have downloaded the FC3 DVD iso, and it MD5 checksums OK, and if i connect the iso to a Virtual machine the install works fine.
However, when I try to burn it using k3b, i get something like "4199MB
of 4102MB burned, 100% complete", and then when i boot from it, it
chokes. Looks like the image is not being burned properly.
I haven't had any problems previously burning CDs or DVDs. BTW, i have that 2.6.8 k3b must be run as root going on. Could this be the problem? Has anyone else had this experience?
Thanks in advance,
Joshua Wulf
You might just have a bad CD media, or it could be scratched or something. Unless your burner has just crapped out on you, which is not likely, it should work. Try a different mirror for downloading the file and then check it with the md5sum before you burn another one.
