Absolutley, but you will still get pounded by script kiddies who have huge botnets looking to make a quick buck out of sending 5 million emails through your server. Not only that, configuring it so it's not an open relay is a lot harder than it sounds. You also have to keep on top of security updates much more than you'd have to do otherwise. Overall, it's a lot of pain for little gain. IMO at least.
