Tried a few more things and so far sound in fedora still doesn't seem to work. Going through the list of applications recently updated within the past month nothing seems to be anything that could be related to sound. Tried my original kernel under FC 2 and that still didn't work either. Now originally sound did work under FC 2. Booting up on knoppix sound works fine and it appears to be using the same module FC 2 has installed. That verifies it is not a hardware/cable issue. I am using a nVidia nForce2 AC97 Audio w/ module snd-intel8x0. It is an onboard on a ASUS A7N8X MB. Also ran gstreamer-properties and alsamixer, everything seems to be fine. Disabled sound in the BIOS booted up, kudzu removed it, enabled sound in bios and kudzu configured it. Ran system-config-soundcard and that didn't show any problems. Any other advice on what could be causing the sound to just not work?
