It seems that Realplayer 8 works way better on a continuous stream from the BBC, so I uninstalled RP10 and put RP8 back, now everthing is peachy keen. :)

 The BBC drops their streams and restart often, they serve a world wide
audience. Also make sure that you are not linking with their hourly news
updates or special programming.
