I jump into this discussion late.

/root/ is absolutely the wrong place for any program. Especially for
things like a browser.

What you ayman suggest does not work, simply because /root/ is not
accessable for any user - for very good reasons. If the original poster
is running firefox as root he is doing very unrecommended things! Never
ever use root for other things than administration. Better never login
as root at the display manager.
