HP just announced linux based laptops. They are using a version of Suse
on them. Suppose to work well.

I think "Flawless functionality" will be difficult to achieve with FC2.
The wireless connection alone will require jumping through at least a
few hoops to get it to work.

The Dell Latitude I am using is not bad, but it is not nearly as fast as
you are looking for. However I have not had any significant problems.
I would like to get the display at a slightly higher resolution but it
is 4+ years old.

And the largest disk drive I have found is a 20GB drive and memory maxes
out at 256MB.

For all that so far it has done everything I have needed.
