1) rpm -e magicdev
2) Logged out of gnome
3) Restarted X
4) Logged back into gnome
5) Mounted my external USB drive, and then the icon appeared on the desktop again.
Does magicdev handle just CDs? Maybe that's why I still get the icon with USB drive?
thank you!

Hello, I am trying to find out how to prevent an icon from showing up on a gnome desktop when it is mounted. I found information in how to prevent automounting in gnome, but can't find out how to set it up so it doesn't put an icon on the desktop when a filesystem is mounted.
any ideas?
thank you!
