gFTP - comes with Fedora Core - supports FTPS and SSH2 as protocols.
How did you realize SFTP on the server side, with which daemon?

you can configure your sshd to support sftp. In FC2 your sshd_conf should include per default these entries:
# override default of no subsystems Subsystem sftp /usr/libexec/openssh/sftp-server
