Just for comparison's sake I scanned and ocr'd the same page on Windows
with an old edition of TextBridge I happened to have around and that
was, if not flawless, acceptable.
Is my gocr not setup properly or does it not work?

gocr has never worked for me...so I stick to W2k and ABBYY FineReader
for the time being.
