Any Ideas? This is a mystery to me too, but by trial & error I have learned that all I really need to do is, as root, create a soft link between /dev/ttyUSB1 and a /dev/pilot device. Then as soon as I plug in my PalmOS device (a Treo 600 in my case), ownership changes from root:uucp to doc:uucp and the permissions change to crw------- (effectively 600). I use jpilot rather than gnomepilot, but with these settings I can connect and sync. -- Doc Robert G.
