You'll need to have the NVIDIA installer script inorder to uninstall
the driver. Just run the following command:
./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6111-pkg1.run --uninstall
and that should remove the NVIDIA driver from your system
Grant: I tried it, but I get a 'no such file or directory' ... Any
other ideas would be
appreciated.
Of course you have to give the proper path to the NVidia driver (and the
version you installed). The example Grant took that the driver is placed
in your parent working directory.

If I read the nVidia README correctly,to uninstall its current driver
you use "nvidia-installer --uninstall" after doing'# telinit 3'
