Hello!
I'm working on a FC2 at 800x600 resolution, with no
problems.
However, when I change to 1024 x 768 (and restart X
by means of logging out), my screen turns black never showing again my login
screen (No error messages!).
The only way (afaik) to recover my graphical
desktop is to restore xorg.conf (cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf.backup
/etc/X11/xorg.conf) and then reboot.
I installed my system with an unprobed monitor as
FC2 doesn't have my monitor driver: Philips 105E.
Of course, this monitor setting doesn't allow more
than 800x600 resolution so I tried some other Philips monitors and even "Generic
CRT Display Monitor 1024x768" always with the named problem.
My graphical card shouldn't(?) be the problem as it
is a Nvidia GeForce MX 400 (configured as "Nvidia GeForce MX (generic)" by the
system) (Should support 1024x768 with 256+ colors!)
Other data:
My Kernel version is 2.6.5-1.358 on an i686 but I
experienced the same problem with 2.6.7-1.494.2.2
I use Gnome although KDE is also
installed.
Shouldn't, at least, Generic CRT Display Monitor
1024x768 work?
Where can I get a Philips 105E monitor driver? Will
this solve my problem?
Can anyone help? Thanks in advance,
JC
