FC2: SMP & RAID (rebuilding on IBM X330, noapic vs acpi=noidle)

a little while back, some of you may recall that i asked about how to
get an IBM X330 to boot FC2 with 2 processors. the suggestion of
napic as a boot time parameter worked for that.

you may also recall that perhaps a week ago, i complained about
pathetic rebuild times for the ServeRAID 4Lx controller for a simple
RAID-1 configuration (at 2+ days, it was still making no apparent
progress on copying over to a new 34G SCSI drive.)

well, now i have the answer, thanks to a suggestion i saw on
another list. the specific problem that X series servers sometimes
have is with acpi idle; this is actually the only thing that needs
to be turned off. i replaced noapic with acpi=noidle, and lo and
behold, the RAID-1 rebuild is now going like a house afire.
