Soem time ago (http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-list/2004-June/msg04825.html) it was reported on this list that the program 'xgterm' which is part of the astronomical package IRAF was no longer working. I just saw on their site that they have an update available, so it is no longer necessary to patch the kernel to run this task.
