Using authentication with yum updates

hi all,

I need yum to pull down updates from a local mirror.  The apache 
webserver required authentication. Updates are not publically accessable 
and both http or ftp requires a password.

Is it possible to pass a username/password combination?  No details in 
the man pages except to access via a proxy server.
